FAQ - Decorative Concrete Services Q. Why should I get decorative concrete? A. By using a decorative concrete system, you will have a product that will increase the strength of your new or existing concrete and add appeal and value to your home or business. It is less expensive to install and maintain than replacing any concrete that may be in need of some repair.
Q. Are there other benefits of decorative concrete? A. Our system can be used on patios stairs walkways, porches, sunrooms, pool decks, showrooms, entryways, or just about anywhere there is concrete! It comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns; in addition, custom colors and patterns can be done for a very small additional charge.
Q. Can I use this product around my pool? A. Yes! This is an excellent product for around pools. It is non-skid, cooler than concrete, will not stain or be affected by chemicals, and will blend the old concrete into the beauty of your yard. Q. What does it look like? A. Concrete Innovators, LLC products achieve a look, texture and color of any type stone or look you require. A skim coat is applied that fixes any imperfections in the original concrete. A design is then laid over it and we apply a textured layer over that. A final, nonporous clear coat is applied and protects the surface as well as makes it very easy to maintain. Q. What colors are available? A. We have a variety of standard colors to choose from. However, we can custom produce any color you wish to match your décor. Q. How long will it take? A. An average job will take 1 to 3 days. Larger, more complex jobs may take longer. Clean foot traffic is usually allowed within the same day. Q. How do you treat control or expansion joints? A. All existing control joints should remain in the surface to allow for expansion and contraction of the original concrete. They are not coated with the SDC product. We can, however, work to ensure these joints match the rest of the look of the surfaces. Q. Can you correct drainage and low spots? A. We can generally improve drainage; however, the degree of success is contingent upon the pitch of the concrete adjacent to the low spot. The low spot will have to be looked at personally by Concrete Innovators to let you know what you can expect. Q. How do you treat cracks in the concrete? A. Concrete Innovators will grind out the cracks and then apply a unique crack treatment product. Q. Will cracks reoccur? A. Though we do everything possible to treat cracks and do eliminate 90% of them, it is possible they may reoccur. If they do, it is usually in the form of a hairline, which is not objectionable as it is largely hidden in the texture. Q. What is the cost per square foot? A. The price depends on a number of factors, such as the condition of the original concrete, the patterns chosen, etc. Please contact us for a free, on-site estimate for your project. Q. How do I clean the finished surface? A. Usually, normal washing with a hose is all that is needed. For stubborn stains, a brush with laundry detergent can be used.
